Now is the time for  everyone  to share in the efforts to Reopen & Restore  the former St. George Church. We are preparing to ask the Congregation for the Clergy at the Vatican to reopen the church and  you  can be an integral part of the success story by completing one or both of the following documents. The Mandate Who can sign the mandate?  If you are a parishioner or if you have donated to improvements for upkeep of the church over the years, you can complete and sign the attached copy of the mandate and have it witnessed by 2 adults. On February 12, 2016, the St. George Church Preservation Society's application to the IRS was accepted and now all donations that were made since August 9, 2015 are tax deductible. Reopen & Restore With this news, our GoFundMe campaign is now ready to come up to full speed.  Please consider making a recurring tax deductible donation to support our efforts to  “Reopen & Restore”  the former St. George Church. Parishioners have moved forward with the appeal process in order to reach an agreement to reopen the church.  We need to have a reserve of funds ready to start the phased restoration work on the church when the agreement is reached.   Parishioners Officially Appeal the Decree That Closes the Church posted  Feb 4, 2016, 12:44 PM  by Saint George Church Preservation Society    On Tuesday, February 1, 2016, our group of parishioners started the official process of appealing the decree to close the former St. George Church on April 3, 2016. We do not intend to appeal the separate decree that was issued regarding the closing of the parish. The appeal process has several levels; starting at the Diocese, then to the Vatican before the Congregation for the Clergy, and the Apostolic Signatura. The parishioners have been in contact with canon lawyers in Rome who are prepared to represent them.
