Postponed, Spaghetti Dinner III

Image
St. George Spaghetti Dinner III -POSTPONED-   Unfortunately, our St. George Spaghetti Dinner III will have to be postponed. We plan to schedule this popular affair as our Spring Event. There is some continuing construction work at the Auditorium that may not be completed. As the pandemic does not seem to be subsiding, there has been a bit of hesitation in the St. George Family to attend a large indoor event. In the meantime we will keep you informed about any progress regarding the Vatican Court appeal of the closing of St. George Church and the historic nomination that is now stalled. We'll be printing another St. George calendar for 2022 and we'll place some items in the on-line St. George Store in time for Christmas shopping. Watch for our updated web site that is still under development. It should be ready for release in a few weeks and we'll notify you when it is time to check it out. Please stay in touch and stay safe. God Bless, The SGCPS leadership team

Church Renewal Success Stories

Image
We would like to share some recent news about Catholic Churches that are cared for by Private Organizations like SGCPS   As we parishioners and the St. George Church Preservation (SGCPS) continue to patiently wait for a decision regarding our Vatican appeal of the closing of St. George Church (St. John Vianney), we continue to pursue an agreement to reopen, restore, and care for the church at no cost to the Diocese. We are inspired by the many successful ventures that have taken place in other dioceses. We would like to share two recent bulletins published by the  St. Benedict Tridentine Catholic Community  near Detroit, MI. They describe some of the many success stories of Catholic churches that are owned or cared for by private organizations like SGCPS with the approval of their diocese. Our proposal to reopen and restore St. George Church along with the support and potential funding sources that could be made available to us present an achievable outcome when...

SGCPS News & 2020 In Review

Image
Happy New Year to our St. George Family: Alumni, Friends, Neighbors, Supporters and Parishioners of St. George and St. John Vianney NEWS UPDATES   VATICAN APPEAL -  Final decision delayed by pandemic. Our appeal of the closing of St. George Church (St. John Vianney) advanced to the Apostolic Signatura (Supreme Court) at the Vatican in 2019. Although we expected their final decision in early 2020, the pandemic closed down the court until this Fall and we still wait. As we pray for a positive decision from the Vatican, we can hope that the Spirit will inspire Bishop Zubik to reconsider his contentious position and embrace our obvious solution. In 2021, we will continue to reach out for an agreement to reopen and restore the Church. With the help of the St. George Family and supporters, we are ready to provide for the care and restoration of the Church at no cost to the Diocese. There are over 60 Catholic churches in other dioceses that are being cared for by organizations like S...
